Tools for Mixed Media Printmakers Retreat
I am hoping that you have most of the tools in your studio already. Or at least have something that is similar. So if you have questions please email me. linda@lindagermain.com
- Papers of your choice
- Mat board, old book covers, or cardboard
- 2 sheets of heavyweight paper, watercolor, printmaking or mixed media
- Piles of prints with potential or any type of papers to be cut, layered and manipulated
- White glue, matt/gloss medium your adhesive of choice
- Lineco bookbinder’s PVA glue dries very nicely
Bookbinding tools:
- Waxed thread (it does make a big difference and make stitching easier)
- OR embroidery floss and chunk of bees wax
- Curved needle with large eye
- Awl or nail or fat pin
- bondo scraper, old credit card or small squeegee
- plastic page protector or wax paper
- Bone folder, ruler, wooden stick or similar tool to crease folds
- Exacto knife and sharp blades
Misc:
- digital camera for capturing inspiration and simplifying design
- set of letter stamps
- Gesso
- acrylic paints
- variety of pens, pencils, crayons, pastels, or charcoal
- spray fixative or hairspray
- Wax candle, matches
- old dictionary and magazines or collage materials of choice
- a wall to pin up your work and admire, this could be a huge sheet of foam core, a real wall, a big board, or other temporary structure. (give yourself the space to admire, live with your work in progress.
It is not about the materials that I use. It is about using the materials that you have and love and maybe trying out a few new ones. Back to the Info page.
