Hammering a stencil

Hammering a Stencil

So last week I went to an antique store in Georgetown looking for old plastic doilies to use as stencils.  I did not find any by I did find this metal dish on the free table outside. I took it back to the machine shop and started hammering back and forth to flatten it out.  And it works!  I really love new free finds.

Media Printmaking

Saturday May 18, 2013
10 AM – 3 PM
93 Essex St.
Haverhill, MA
$80. – Includes some supplies.   All are welcome.

We will combine painting, drawing, or collage with printmaking to create a complex piece of art to hang on your wall.   We will build the print like a pizza.  Start with a sturdy base, add several thin layers of texture and top it off with images, flavors that mean the most to you, to create a personal piece to share with others.

  • learn how to create rich textural layers
  • how to speed up drying times
  • how to listen to your inner self
  • how to combine materials
  • how to crop to create compelling compositions
You will walk away with a mixed media print and several new skills to illustrate your thoughts and passions.

We will work with papers, acrylic paints, charcoals, newsprints and printmaking tools.  Bring your favorite paints, papers, stamps and mark making tools and I will have some to share as well.

Space is limited – to reserve your spot today just click on the “BUY NOW” button below.

15 things I learned doing a craft fair

Page from Things I know book
copyright 2009 Linda Germain
I had a great couple of days at the craft fair in Ipswich.  I was grateful for all the help that my young nephew gave me in set up and booth attendance.  As I caught my breath I started to think about everything that went right in the last couple of days I realized,
  1. People really like my art.
  2. Say yes to opportunities even when I don’t fee quite ready
  3. Be nice, saying Hi and talking about the weather can go a long way.
  4. Give first, even if it is just a little shade on a hot day
  5. Let other people help and express gratitude
  6. Smiles and laughs are infectious
  7. Be myself as much as possible
  8. It’s not over ’til it’s over and not even then is it really final
  9. Give people space
  10. Share what I know or love
  11. Set goals and let them go
  12. It’s never a waste
  13. Trying to control everything just makes me crazy
  14. Follow up
  15. Create new goals
