Well we had to great days playing with gelatin printmaking @ the artists playground.  We had creatives ranging in age from 12 to 62.  Everyone had fun and experimented with tools, materials, papers, inks and plates.  Many participants tried the Gelli Plate and loved it.  We went through a 500 sheet ream of paper, we used tissue paper and book pages. Of course I was too busy to get pictures but Karen Wihbey shared a few of her prints on her blog.  Hopefully more pictures to come.

Gelatin Prints and some book forms

Today I went into Boston to the Athenaeum to see the Artists’ Books Exhibit. What a wonderful space to just be with books.  The exhibit show cases books from the Athenaeum’s collection.  Inspiring!  I came home and played with a single page book form.  I followed the instructions in Book + Art by Dorothy Simpson Krause.  I am going to exhibit several of my artist books at the Sage Art Gallery, in March.  I am excited about putting this show together.  Must Run!  Happy Printing.

animal totems Prep for kids class

I had some fun in the studio today.  I am teaching a class at Lynn Arts during school vacation week – Shapeshifting – native american art in conjunction with the current exhibit at PEM.  This project is going to be a totem pole of animal totems that are based on the birth dates of each child.  I wonder what my tribe will be like.  These animals are painted on recycled cereal boxes and then stacked.  So fun to Play.
