Generosity and Gratitude between artists

Card image by terri stegmiller  and gift of plastic doilies from terri as well. Thank you!

Yesterday I received the gift of the two fabulous doilies from Terri Stegmiller.  She read about my search and wanted to share some extras that she had found.  Wow what a generous offer.  I look forward to playing with them.  They are sturdy and have good size holes, just what I like in a stencil of this sort.  She has inspired me to be generous in some way.  So I am keeping my mind open to situations for giving.

Mini Screen Prints at the Creative Haverhill Shop

© linda germain 21012 3.5″ x3.5″ blocks with screen prints for sale

These little prints are fun yet the process of making them was contrary to my usual process of printing. You know I am all about PLAY and experimentation.  Well for  this little project I was all about product.  It really stops me to have to be neat and clean and think about what the buyer might want.  I did manage to get into the flow and now I am happy with the product.

I used some thermofax screens and recycled color cards and cut the square block from a long piece of wood.

Details, doilies and Do it! – Gelatin Prints

©linda germain 2012 Gelatin printing with a plastic doily

A couple of years back I took a great class with Cathy McLaurin.  During the class she shared lots of her mark making tools.  I fell in love with an old plastic doily.  So I searched the junk stores for a plastic doily of my own and eventually I gave up looking.  Today I found one.  It is not a fabulous as cathy’s but it does make a wonderful detailed impression on the gelatin plate.

What do you do with all your Gelatin Prints?

Today I gave the coptic stitch binding another try.  I did a multi-needle coptic stitch.  It came out ok.  Not perfect but I still like it.  I did find some very good videos on you tube and I referenced the ECO-books instructions.  These were my Akua Kolor on copy paper prints.  The Akua Kolor feels nice to the fingers compared to the speedball water bases block printing inks.  Happy Printing!
