Warm day for Gelatin Prints

Today I have been playing with the sticks and stones series. The more I try to control the result the less control I seem to have. It is time for the pool now and time for the gelatin to go back into the refrigerator. I am reminded that I really like to have some darks and lights in my final image and some bright color too. I found a great website last night kickstarter.com It is a site to try to get funding for an artistic project. Inspiring stuff. I also found www.awesomefoundation.org Another site for funding creative projects. www.linda-germain.com

Linda Germain prepares for NAA Fall show

I am hoping the ink will dry this weekend on some of these gelatin prints. I would like to enter a gelatin print from this new series of “stones” that I am working on. These prints are bigger and more abstract than my paper doll dress series. I have printed several on old map pages. I think these are going to be my favorites. The Newburyport Art Association fall show runs from August 21 – September 27 and the reception is August 22 from 7 to 9 PM Gallery hours are: Closed Tuesdays. Open other Weekdays & Saturdays, 11 am – 5 pm, and Sundays, 1 – 5 pm http://www.linda-germain.com/

Playing with Gelatin Prints

Today, I am experimenting with a new color for me – light blue. I usually do not like to mix my colors because they seem to get dull quickly when I am layering. I am still using the “stone stencils” The gelatin prints go back and forth between being something that I like and something that I just ruined. I have been leaving the gelatin right in the pan. It is amazing how much it shrinks as it ages. Leaving it in the pan, means that I get ink from the pan on my paper but I am going with the idea that these prints will be cropped in the end, so the edges don’t matter. www.linda-germain.com

Art and the Internet

For the last few weeks I have been thinking about how to sell art on the internet. So many choices and opinions. I think I have to choose something and just give it a try. I have been checking out Etsy and then Flickr and what about Twitter and facebook and myspace. And then there is esbqart and myartspace and redbubble and imagekind. I am thinking about defining a line or series of prints for online sales and starting with that.
