I was at the farm today taking care of perennials, but gelatin printing tonight.  I cut a new stencil and continued with the map series.  I ended up with 2 or 3 that I like at this point.  That is a good night.  I found a tiny Maple tree while I was weeding today and thought I would try to print with it.  It is not very flat so it usually does not

work as well as I would like.  So I took a picure and maybe I will do some sketches that can turn into etching plates. http://www.linda-germain.com/

On to the next Project

I am thinking about offering 4 short gelatin printmaking workshops at my studio.  I want to keep the class small and flexible.  I am getting back to the idea of “play with printmaking.”  Sometimes I slip into serious mode.
I am also considering massachusetts cultural council grants.  I am thinking about offering courses in other local venues with the support of the cultural council grant.  Try it right.  What have I got to lose.  I don’t like rejection. Sometimes I get stopped by thinking too much.  blah blah blah.
There is a fun art show coming up @ drawingroomportlandmaine.com Envelop(e).  I am going to do something with the security envelopes that I have been collecting.  The deadline is not ’til December, so I have plenty of time.  Maybe too much time.
I have been experiementing with facebook.com and twitter.com.  It is time consuming.  Once fun thing that happened Daniel Smith found me and put me in the pool for the weekly drawing for a $50 gift cert. http://www.linda-germain.com/

Browmfield Gallery Solo Competion

I met the deadline.  I feel good.  This series of prints are printed on old map pages.  They are layered an unpredictable.
Deadline for SOLO 2010 Competition: October 1, 2009
Juror: Brian T. Allen, Director of the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover, MA.
The Addison Gallery of American Art, established in 1930, features major works by the most prominent American artists of the past. Recent artists in residence have included William Wegman, Dawoud Bey, Richard Serra, Anna Gaskell and Alex Katz.
SOLO 2010 awards two solo exhibitions, all expenses paid, to two New England artists who have not previously had a solo show in a commercial gallery (group shows, universities, libraries, etc. do not disqualify). All media are welcome.
Finalists will bring 3-5 pieces of artwork to the gallery for review in mid-October. Winners posted on Bromfield site on November 1.
The two winning exhibitions will be held in January, 2010
