Suggested Supplies for Draw into Print – weekend course
- Speedball water soluble block printing ink, black and retarder
- OR a tube of Golden Open Acrylics – black
- Or if you work with oil based Intaglio ink or Akua Intaglio inks they will work too.
- Glycerin can be used in place of retarder
- Soft Rubber brayer
- 2 palettes, flat sheets of plastic or acrylic or taped off glass from an old 11″ x 14″ frame
- tracing paper
- old phone book or newsprint
- spray bottle for water
- rags
- scraper or palette knife to mix ink
- rigid ruler and 2 eraser props to make a drawing bar
- Baren or flat bottom jar or make a baren
- mixed media paper or
- drawing paper, I used 90 lb drawing paper.
- thin water color paper or
- rice paper
- Any paper will do. But all papers will interact differently and give you a different result. I advise trying the process first with what ever is readily available to you. And if you decide that you like the process then experiment with a variety of thin, smooth and yet durable printing papers.
