I am planning my course material for Make Monotype an online printmaking course, and wondering if you are as curious about all the different gelatin plate recipes as I am. I think that each type of plate has it’s strengths and weaknesses. Some work better in different situations and all give a slightly different impression. If you have the desire to find out what recipe is best for you then sign up here and be the first to know about Make Monotypes – the ecourse with Linda Germain.
Check out current online printmaking classes on the workshop page.

I have seen so many recipes! One has alcohol, another has glycerin, some have both………….I want to make my own but all the choices of recipes are dizzying.
Are you going to experiment? Do it! I kind of make things up as i go. What is there to lose?
I know. I just have to find the time as well as the space in the fridge! LOL
the great thing about the gelatin and glycerin recipe is that is does not have to be refrigerated. It is kind of sticky though. I am not sure how good it is for acrylics. I know i have tried it but can’t remember.
I did some playing with different plates…alcohol, glycerine, sugar etc. It got to be quite expensive!! There are a few posts on my blogs about this, including a link back to your blog Linda for the gelatin recipe that worked…
Yes you are right. Things can add up. I am glad that you found one that works for you. Thanks for the links. Happy printing.
