I am always amazed with the amount of detail that is possible with gelatin printmaking. That is why I continue to do it day after day.
Easy Printmaking
For today’s ICAD 4 x 6 gelatin print –
- I used a stencil
- that I cut on the Silhouette-Cameo machine
- from a picture that I took of my Dad and nephew
- I made at least 8 prints
- learning what I like from each one
- I let the inks mix and I love the mottled effect
I am so happy that I committed to doing the index card a day challenge. It has –
- got me gelatin printing daily
- posting images on line daily
- thinking about my process more
- learning how to share that process
- feeling good about keeping a commitment
- connecting with like minded people
WOW – that is a lot of good from one little index card print a day! It is not too late to give yourself the chance to have these benefits and more. Just jump in the group and start making something on an index card each day and then share it with the flickr or Facebook groups.
I have included a picture of
- the cameo machine
- my other gelatin plate prints
- the stencil and
- the photo that was my reference for this gelatin plate monotype print

Happy Printing!
I’m enjoying your new prints. What machine did you get and does it have any differences to other than size? Do you still have to cut out the stencil or mask? Am somewhat confused as to how this works. Thanks,
I have been playing with the silhouette Cameo cutting machine. It cuts the image. I can alter the image on the computer. It does the cutting for me. Make sense?
Linda,
Could you tell the quantity needed to make a gelatin plate using the bulk gelatin.
I can’t find my information.
Hi Maria, I use two heaping tablespoons of finely ground bulk gelatin to one cup of water. Hope that helps you! Happy printing
