Today’s print was a challenge to get done. I was hoping that I had some tools to work with at home but I had to go to the studio to get this gelatin print done. I have a few folks to credit for encouragement :
- Gelli art folks for creating the gelli plate that lasts forever and is always ready for printing
- Jo over at JoGatheringWild who got her ICAD done today
- My buddy Sandra who shared her ICAD on her blog too.
I got the gelli plate out yesterday to share with my students in the Play for the Day – Gelatin Printmaking Workshop I like to give them the opportunity to try out the gelli plate and the gelatin plate.
Happy Printing!
Just a tip if you want plates that don’t go mouldy is to use about half and half syrup and gelatin in less water The sugar acts as a preservative.
Good to know. I actually like it when the gelatin plate decays and gets holes and lines and cracks. Often I can get very interesting mark from that surface. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6Qv8RCIes0 This video is a slide show of some prints that I made with old moldy gelatin. Happy Printing!
