I could use your help and advise about photo editing and managing software on a Mac. I took the leap and got a Macbook a couple of weeks ago, and I have a lot to learn. I am coming from an old PC, using photoshop 6 to edit and folders by date to manage. Out of 14 GB of documents to transfer from my old computer 13GB are photos and mostly of my artwork. I have been trying out Elements 9, checking out iPhoto, and elements organizer. Thanks.
That is way to much photos to put on your MacBook. You will slow it right down. There is a load of free online storage these days or operate ‘Time Machine” to a backup hard-drive.
I run an iMac with backup to an external hard drive (which are cheap) and eventually I get over run with images left on my mac. When I copy to disks and place in online storage and delete them from my iMac I start running a lot faster. The mantra I was taught was always back up to three different places and use your hard drive as the scratch disk
Thanks so much
Linda, I have a MacBook Pro (LOVE LOVE LOVE IT). My MacDaddy (genius at the Apple Store) says I will never run out of space. I use IPhoto and Apeture and IMovie and have been assured that Photoshop will still keep me going. I would backup to an external location as a precaution but you to talk to a MacGeek @ Apple. Good Luck
No Mac here, but very happy with Elements & Organizer. Also concerned about space & speed, as photos are taking over my machine! Good luck.
