untitled gelatin plate print on rusted fabric aprox 7″ x 7″
Well I was trying to salvage some gelatin that I made around December 10th. I had about 5, 8″ by 10″ pieces and was blotting off the excess water and slime to see if I could still print with them I was amazing how each piece aged differently. Some were mostly slime and others were still mostly solid. I had a few minutes and decided to try making a few prints. I loved the one above.
Your print is gorgeous!
Thanks. i think of it as a work in progress and it is off to a great start.
I must agree, it is super. Oh I just plugged you over at my place.
Happy new Year!
Jamie Lynn thanks for the plug. Your gelatin plate looks great. Have fun with it.
Just discovered your site, and the gelatin plate technique — so exciting! I love your work and experimentation. Thanks for sharing your thoughts & process.
Liz – glad you found me. Happy to inspire.
This one is gorgeous. I love the colors here.
Thanks Seth, I thought you might like this palette.
Love gelatin printing, love fabric and love rust…your piece ticks all the boxesxlynda
The Ooohy gooey gelatin is always the best, isn’t it? And there is such a sense of urgency to get the most out of it before it gets tossed.
Beautiful abstract; beautiful work. I’m subscribing to your blog right now.
Thanks so much
I like the mixture. It’s been years since i tried a monoprint. Used to finger paint oil paint over a zinc plate. Back in 1978.
karl thanks for the feedback. I have not tried the oil paint on Zinc, sound fun though.
